Editor’s Note: this is blog post about an open letter from lead attorney William Ferreira to the Bureau of Automotive Repair on the issue of SMOG check simulators, accusations, and Interim Suspension Orders.
In a nutshell, our job as defense attorneys against California’s Bureau of Automotive Repair is to uncover the facts and get to a result that helps our clients. Easy right? The problem is, the Bureau of Automotive Repair has a job to do too.
Sometimes working in the auto repair and SMOG business can be a bit stressful. You’ve got anxious customers to keep calm. There are unexpected emergencies like a tow truck driver pulling up to the shop with a long-term customer’s “baby” at 4pm.
There are opinions and there are facts. If someone is blamed for bad behavior and the accusing party prattles on, it can become a nightmare for the person being attacked. Others can get the impression the accused is an awful person.
